| TOUCHING EARTH MADE OF STEEL - THE CARL WILSON LAKE MYSTERY | ||
![]() |
Touching Earth Made of Steel re-emerge from the mists of their legendary studio with the most ambitious sophomore effort they could conceive of. Following on the heels of the highly acclaimed Occupational Hazards (a concept album about jobs and the people who do them), these kindly lads present: The Carl Wilson Lake Mystery.
What is it? In August of 1972 Bruce Miller and Sandra Russell disappeared during a canoe trip in Algonquin Provinical Park. While some of their equipment was recovered, they were never found, and no satisfactory explanation of their fates was ever advanced. This album, then, is their story, in twelve parts. Check out this poster for some more information. Andy Cant, Brian Martin, and Jeremy have combined to bring you highly treated guitars and basses, analogue synthesizers, impeccable drumming, wild singing, samples, and ever so much more, using a vast array of techniques and technologies. It's rock and roll, it's experimental, it's electronic, it's acoustic, it's a lot of things. You will never be bored by this record, of that we confidently assure you. Visit here to hear a pair of songs. We think you'll like them. Heck, even the packaging is special. Fold out the insert for an exciting, oversized, hand drawn map of Algonquin Park. Something to admire for years to come, and possibly navigate by (if you want to suffer a fate similar to that of our protagonists). So visit Sounds Unlikely today and pick it up. It's as cheap as it is awesome. |
