The Constellations - EVERYTHING IS NICE
Everything is nice is the second part of a two part exercise in happy/sad music (see also Til death do us part). Released in the summer of 2002, to no acclaim, Everything is nice is meant to be a happy album, designed to lighten the spirit and warm the heart. That said, I've been told that it really isn't very happy. This is distressing, given the implications....

Regardless, it certainly does have some happy moments. Where Til death do us part is largely guitar driven, this album is heaven for the analogue synthesizer enthusiast. "She's too dead" and "Soap" best exemplify, respectively, the fun sing along tunes, and upbeat electronic instrumentals you'll find here in almost equal proportion. The subject matter dealt with here includes Nicole and O.J. Simpson, Queen Elizabeth, love in renaissance Italy, and the trials of an RCMP officer living in a small town. You can see, then, that when I am in a good mood I tend to dream. Stories are always more interesting than whining about girls and hospitals anyway, right? Of course. It's true: everything is nice.

Listen to The Constellations and tell your mom you won't be coming home this weekend.
